Development of a Digital Map with Traffic Volumes for the main Road Network of Greece (Under the project "Infrastructure Support for Transport Reasearch: CERTH/HIT Management and data processing node)

The objective of the project was to develop a digital map which will illustrate the main Road Network of Greece, as well as the Traffic Volume that characterizes each road section of the network. POLINDE carried out the following: a) Use of available traffic counts and conduction of automatic traffic volume and composition counts on the main National Road Network of Greece b) Assessment and Correction of HIT's digital background, in respect with its efficiency in illustrating traffic volumes and in coding the junctions and the road sections of the background in a way that it is in accordance with the coding of the locations where the traffic counts were carried out c) Data entry in the digital background
