Highway Design

Road infrastructure is an integral part of the social and economic development of urban and regional areas. Road geometric design studies are included in the planning process. The preliminary and final design takes into account the elements of time and cost. The major issues investigated in these studies are road safety, the feasibility and sustainability of the design as well as the social impact. All types of new road infrastructure as well as upgrading of existing road infrastructure both in urban and interurban environments under varying soil conditions are investigated as part of our work.

Main tasks include:
  • Highway and Road Design
  • Signage
  • Design
  • Road Rainwater Drainage Design
  • Railway Design

GIS

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) create insight by helping our clients to gain added value and benefit from their geographical data.

In Polinde we provide GIS Professional Services to support and manage all the phases of the life cycle of a project such as:
  • Spatial Data Collection and Stakeholder engagement
  • Relational Spatial Databases Design and Implementation
  • Development of custom GIS tools, online questionnaires, Web GIS applications and Dashboards.
  • GIS Training and systems maintenance support.

Road Safety

Road safety is a feature of the project process that is included from the design stage, is of utmost importance during implementation and requires continuous monitoring during the project operation. The main objective of Road Safety Studies is the implementation of cost-effective measures aimed at reducing the number of accidents along the project road or network.

Main tasks include:
  • Road Safety Studies
  • Road Safety Audits
  • Speed Limit Studies
  • Road Safety Strategy
  • Road Signage Design

Traffic Surveys

Reliable decision making and development of appropriate solutions is based on the quality of the data available. Sound data collection and analysis practices are of utmost importance to project success and are directly related to the quality of the results. The correct and latest equipment combined with the training and management of our survey personnel ensure high quality data collection techniques.

Main tasks include:
  • Origin-Destination & Stated Preference Surveys
  • Public Transport & Facilities Surveys
  • Automatic, manual & turning movement counts
  • Speed, delay, queue length & journey time surveys
  • Parking surveys
  • Pedestrian counts and surveys

Transport Planning

These studies include all modes of transport for passengers and freight and are undertaken at municipal, regional or national level.

The existing situation is analysed and simulated through appropriate transport models. After the appropriate socio-economic, land use and transport network infrastructure data collection, relevant macro transportation models are developed to reflect the existing condition and to estimate the demand on the transport network for various time horizons and scenarios.

Main tasks include
  • Feasibility Studies
  • Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs)
  • Transport Modelling
  • Parking Management Studies
